With the holiday weekend upon us, our Craftsmen are busy-busy wrapping up projects and lovingly packaging pieces for shipment. Below are some shots taken this morning – most notably custom deco door pulls and a little sneak peek of a new hardware collection we will be launching shortly! See if you can spot what’s new!
It goes without saying that we at SA Baxter are unequivocally proud of our American-based manufacturing heritage. We are also proud to be part of a new American Manufacturing Resurgence. A number of Articles and Analysts have cited the potential shift in ‘Made in the USA’ advantages: abundant fuel sources, improvements in productivity, and challenges with outsourcing issues such as rising shipping costs and increasing Chinese wages.

SA Baxter was founded as an American based manufacturer, on the principles of superior craftsmanship, and maximization of green sustainable practices – which made New York’s Hudson Valley the natural choice for our Foundry and Atelier.
Another facet of this new fabrication enthusiasm: We’re also excited to see so many gutsy Innovators in the US, taking advantage of access to digital fabrication technologies such as 3D printing and laser-cutting. The rise of crowd-sourced funding such as Kickstarter is fueling even more USA-based ‘get it done’ fervor. Things are really starting to get interesting…
The truly fascinating aspect of this concept is the usage of software for the design process – which is driven by a bio-mimicry technique to generate this flowing intertwined form – not unlike the virtual nature-inspired algorithmic designs of Somerville, MA based Nervous System. The form is captivating, as is the color and tone of that bronze…Call us impressed.
Not far from our Upstate New York Foundry is the world-renowned Storm King Art Center in New Windsor, New York. Known for stunning and tremendous outdoor sculptures, in an idyllic natural setting, Storm King has recently welcomed a series of works by Thomas Houseago, titled: As I Went Out One Morning.
Mr. Houseago is a Los Angeles-based Artist, well known for his use of simple materials and haunting interpretive works. His pieces have been exhibited around the globe, and now we get a chance to see and touch his work at the ideal outdoor venue.
We are continuing to expand on our Collection of QuickShip Project-Ready Hardware – and thus our introduction of more cabinet hardware – cabinet pulls! These pulls are available in 3in. C-C (76mm) and 5in. C-C (127mm) sizes in all 9 Project-Ready finishes.
These pulls may be viewed in both our New York and London showrooms.
Tearsheets will be available the week of April 15th.
