With the holiday weekend upon us, our Craftsmen are busy-busy wrapping up projects and lovingly packaging pieces for shipment. Below are some shots taken this morning – most notably custom deco door pulls and a little sneak peek of a new hardware collection we will be launching shortly! See if you can spot what’s new!
All frosty international politics aside, these Olympic Medals for the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games are otherworldly.
Aside from the exquisite detail and color, what makes these olympic medals so special is the use of meteorite fragments. You may recall the bright blazing footage of the Chelyabinsk meteorite blast from earlier this year – fragments of that meteorite were collected and will be fabricated into these gold and chondrite discs.
To say these medals may be the most unusual Olympic metal handed out in history may be quite and understatement!
We were honored to sponsor this past weekend’s artMRKT Hamptons, which took place on the grounds of the Bridgehampton Historical Society. The event kicked off on Thursday with an incredible party.
Our hardware was displayed as a Chess set, with our pieces finished in polished nickel and dark antique bronze.
The creative display extended beyond the incredible artwork, to include ABSOLUT’s team:
Kudos to the Artists, Organizers, and guests.!
The truly fascinating aspect of this concept is the usage of software for the design process – which is driven by a bio-mimicry technique to generate this flowing intertwined form – not unlike the virtual nature-inspired algorithmic designs of Somerville, MA based Nervous System. The form is captivating, as is the color and tone of that bronze…Call us impressed.
Today is the last day of the NY Design juggernaut that is ICFF. Here is a sampling of Exhibitors showing furniture pieces crafted in Bronze. Our favorites are Nick Davis’ Etched Bronze Tables…divine…

At first glance, Jens Praet’s collection of sculptural furniture pieces appear to have fabric draped over solid forms. Look more closely and you will see these ‘sheets’ are actually bronze!
The lovely verdigris patina of the ‘draped’ bronze produces a notable contrast to the brushed brass of the main structures. These pieces truly are functional pieces of sculptural art.
