Not far from our Upstate New York Foundry is the world-renowned Storm King Art Center in New Windsor, New York. Known for stunning and tremendous outdoor sculptures, in an idyllic natural setting, Storm King has recently welcomed a series of works by Thomas Houseago, titled: As I Went Out One Morning.
Mr. Houseago is a Los Angeles-based Artist, well known for his use of simple materials and haunting interpretive works. His pieces have been exhibited around the globe, and now we get a chance to see and touch his work at the ideal outdoor venue.
At first glance, Jens Praet’s collection of sculptural furniture pieces appear to have fabric draped over solid forms. Look more closely and you will see these ‘sheets’ are actually bronze!
The lovely verdigris patina of the ‘draped’ bronze produces a notable contrast to the brushed brass of the main structures. These pieces truly are functional pieces of sculptural art.
From a lump of clay to a fully developed bronze bust…we love to see the entire sculpting and investment casting process compressed down to 10 minutes! This video comes to us from French Artist René Zaki.
This intriguing concept, designed by Chris Duffy, is produced by Duffy London.
Very clever…a glass tabletop appears as though it is upheld by a group of golden balloons. In addition to toughened glass, materials include metal resin composite and toughened steel. Get yours soon, as Duffy is only fabricating 20 of these nifty pieces.
